GOVERNING BOARD
Robyn Winters, Executive DirectorRobyn is the former President and CEO of Centrifugal, serves as Executive Director and Director of Programs for NJM. Robyn brings curriculum development and education experience to NJM, is a certified mindfulness instructor and trained in Mindful Schools, MindUP and other mindful and social and emotional learning programs. Robyn began practicing mindfulness 12 years ago and saw her life transform in remarkable ways. It is her passion to teach children tools to lead a happier healthier life through mindfulness practice – skills she wish that she would have had growing up. David Hills, President of Board David has a background in teaching mindfulness to children via his 24 years of experience with Ki-Aikido. He currently serves on the board of directors of Midland Ki Federation an international group of Ki-Aikido training centers and a 501©3 non-profit corporation in the US. David’s current occupation is technical lead of a Business Intelligence Platform at AT&T. He has over 24 years of experience in quality and expense metric design, data collection and converting data to actionable information. ADVISORY BOARD Positions to be Announced. PERSPECTIVE PANEL
Isabella Brettillo Isabella enjoys making new friends, riding her scooter, drawing, and reading. Her favorite color is yellow. She likes mindfulness because at the beginning of the class she felt hyper, but by the end she felt very calm. She wants mindfulness to be taught at all schools because it helps kids calm down and not hurt each other as much. She also says it should be at all schools because the mindfulness tools can help teachers get their students to listen.
Ileana Hills Ileana attends a school for gifted kids with different learning styles. She likes singing, playing guitar, writing, math, science, designing and sewing fashion and playing with her friends. Ileana has been practicing mindfulness for several years. "I like mindfulness because it helps me with my little brother and it helps me not hit him when we fight." Ileana feels mindfulness should be taught in all schools so kids don't get so stressed out when they take a test.
Evelyn Ingraham Evelyn Ingraham is a student at Mountain View Elementary. She is an award winning artist and loves to be creative. You will always find Evelyn laughing or with a smile on her face. She is a great friend and sister. Evelyn practices mindfulness often. She will often tell her parents that they should be mindful. She says “I like it because it makes me calmer”.
Jack Holitza Jack is a student at Stargate Charter School and enjoys performing arts, piano and soccer in his free time. He practices mindfulness daily and enhances his practice with meditation, yoga and breathing exercises. Jack says “I like being present because when you are present feels good.'” INSTRUCTORS Jeannette Abshire, NJM Instructor Jeannette is a Certified Education Kinesiologist with a M.A. in Educational Psychology. She is the owner of Advanced Brain Gym PlusLLC and has over 30 years of experience teaching Brain Gym to youth and professionals from all walks of life. Shannon Lamb, M.S.W. NJM, Instructor Shannon is a Psychotherapist, Mindfulness and Stress Coordinator, Recreational Therapist, Socialization Group Therapist, Behavioral Therapist and Specialist and has a background in Counseling and Family Services. She is trained in MindUP Curriculum. Drisana Rabe, NJM Instructor Drisana has a degree in Contemplative Psychology with a concentration in the Psychology of Health and Healing and is trained in MindUP Curriculum. She has a background in childcare and teaching meditation practices to teens. |
